Galaxy S6 Stock Firmware (Latest OTA Updates!)

Here are Galaxy S6 Stock firmware of which we’ve taken from the most latest official Over-The-Air (OTA) updates. These stock firmware or so-called “Stock ROM” can be use to unroot and restore back a Galaxy S6 phone to its official original Android Operating System. It can also be use to manually update or upgrade the device if it will no longer receives a software update.

These are all official factory images and were officially built and released by Samsung and carrier providers across the world. All of these were untouched, not rooted nor modified or injected by any means of modification, and it has remained as original as it was.

The stock firmware has been proven to be useful to undo any modification and return back the Galaxy S6 phone to its default settings. It will fully wiped out any unofficial and custom-made firmware that have had been installed in the Galaxy S6 device.






On the other hand, the stock firmware is also what we need if we messed from any modification attempts and ended-up into soft-bricked device. It can fix problems such as bootloop (phone keeps on restarting), and or the phone just stuck in a welcome screen logo.

If you will just use the stock firmware to unroot or return your Galaxy S6 to stock, you must only grab the corresponding firmware build version in the list below. Just make sure that it will match the firmware build number version of your rooted or modified Samsung Galaxy S6.

Important Notes:


DO NOT USE the stock firmware to DOWNGRADE the GALAXY S6 from Android 5.1.1 back to Android 5.0.2. A new security policy has been imposed, doing so will not work and it only fails.

You should only use the most latest and newest stock firmware on your Galaxy S6. The latest update simply means it's a lot better and it has several bug fixes and improvements added on it. Do not use an older stock firmware if your Galaxy S6 already runs on the most latest firmware update or else your device OS will be outdated and sometimes it causes issues. Some latest updates may include some patches or otherwise noted but not limited to the US versions of Galaxy S6 that might break the bootloader that may results into unwanted soft-bricks such as bootloops and just stuck at Samsung logo.

You may only grab and install the specified stock firmware according to your Galaxy S6 model number.  There are several versions of the Galaxy S6 across the world.  Each of these Galaxy S6 versions has different firmware build versions, according to regions, network providers. Therefore, flashing a non-specified stock firmware to other Galaxy S6 model variants may result into undesirable outcomes. Meaning it will also cause damage to your phone and you cannot recover it by your own.  So please don’t play around and mess with the stock firmware if you don not have any idea how to use it.  Use of these Galaxy S6 stock firmware is solely at your own risk.

Why we need the Galaxy S6 Stock Firmware?

FAQ's about the Galaxy S6 Stock Firmware:
Advanced users and after-market developers had to use a stock firmware.  On the advanced users side, thus who loves to tinker their devices they need it if they are about to restore their phone to its factory default state.  Android is an Open Source Project (AOSP), some after-market developers are also free to use the stock firmware as their base for customization purposes, such as changing the look and  feel of the stock and adding a but more tweaks and stuff.

What are these Galaxy S6 Stock Firmware is capable to?



Remove Root and Unroot the Galaxy S6 –

You can only use the stock firmware if and when you have had a rooted Galaxy S6  and wants to fully unroot it. Sometimes rooting may cause some adverse effect to the device.  So if we've noticed that there is something went wrong after rooting,  and then we want to fully removed the root that already stick and overrides the original firmware.  So the stock firmware can do the thing to  restore our Galaxy S6 to its original state.

Manually Upgrade the Galaxy S6 – One of your last resort to get the newest software update when the time comes that OTA update and even Kies / Smart Switch update has blocked your Galaxy S6 when it finds out that your device has been modified and rooted.

Pull out individual system images such as Kernel, Boot image, Stock Recovery, CSC image, Modem, Radio Interface Layer (RIL) etc.

Which particular things the stock firmware cannot do?


Can it be use for unlocking the Galaxy S6?

The stock firmware cannot unlock a carrier locked Samsung Galaxy S6 from a certain network providers. If one might have thought that installing an unbranded stock firmware on-top on carrier branded Galaxy S6 will unlocked the device so then they will be able to use it to other network providers SIM-cards. No, it will not unlock the Galaxy S6.  It will just remove the branding of the phone, as it only changes the carrier logo,  default apps and ringtones but the phone stays locked to a certain mobile network operator.

Can it be use to reset the KNOX Warranty Void counter?

If our Galaxy S6 has been rooted, or otherwise runs in custom recovery and any unofficial system images which weren't officially built by Samsung, this will tripped the KNOX warranty flag counter.  Once the KNOX tripped it is irreversible by any means, so the stock firmware cannot fix it.
